How to be More Productive

Today is all about time management. Everyone is so busy with work, school, kids, professional and social responsibilities, who doesn’t have the time to be more productive? There are a number of ways to get things done faster, sooner, and at the same time. Decrease the amount of time it takes for you to get something done on each task today, and find yourself free of lists, messages, and notifications by the weekend. Here are a few ways to be more productive.

  1. Multitasking can be dangerous. Managing too many projects at once isn’t always the most effective way to get things done. At the end of the day, do you really know what you have accomplished? Staying busy and being productive are two different things. Being productive accomplishes something, being busy makes us feel like a hamster on a wheel.
  2. The first way you can be productive and not busy is to watch the chatter. It is hard to focus and refocus your energy on one project when you have constant chatting going on in the background. Take a look at your day after you have stayed off of Facebook, Twitter, and digg. Brainstorm during your more thoughtless tasks like walking the dog. It’s best to plan out your day, so when you get to your task list you know where to start.
  3. Finally, give yourself one project a day, one main goal to complete. When you have only one thing to complete, you know you’ve accomplished something. After this is complete, you have a list of smaller tasks that you are more likely to complete before the day is over.
