You know if you spend too much money for a gift for the spendthrift in your life, it will come back to bite you.
A. If it’s a spouse or a significant other, it may get used as ammunition for the next argument about money.
B. If it’s a boss, good luck on getting promoted into the President of Budgets and Acquisitions job you’ve been angling for…
C. If it’s a friend, they may secretly feel you just don’t “get” them.
So shop wisely my friend. With that out of the way, what do you get?
Spendthrifts like to save money, of course. So think along those lines and you should be okay.
Frugal people like practicality, and value. Be sure the gift you buy for them has these two factors, or has at least one going for it. Here are some ideas:
- For the spouse: Perhaps a canning kit or a gift card to their favorite discount warehouse might be in order.
- For the boss: A gift card to a favorite online store might do nicely, or if you know him or her well enough, a donation to their favorite charity or cause.
- For the frugal brother or sister: Composting kits or perhaps a kit that can help them start their own indoor garden if they’re into that kind of thing.
- For the friend: How about a night on the town doing something they enjoy, all expenses paid, like a movie and some drinks?
Really, any one of these suggestions can be mixed and matched of course. You know your friends and relations better than we do.
