So, have you strategized how you will approach returning the gifts that weren’t quite right this year? According to statistics, about $50 billion in merchandise is returned to retailers during (or after) the holidays. Hopefully, your friends and family remembered to include gift receipts. It’s hard to return anything without a receipt. There are some companies who actually try to make it easy on you when you have something to return. These are the best:

Zappos. Zappos is an online retailer that sells cute shoes and trendy clothing. They make returning items as easy as it is to order them. If you get something that you are unhappy with, send it back free of charge. Customers do not have to pay shipping costs on merchandise they want to return.

L.L. Bean. I love almost everything I get from L.L. Bean, and I can’t imagine returning a gift from this retailer. However, should I have to bring something back, I know it will be easy. L.L Bean has a return policy that will allow stores to take back or exchange any merchandise, no matter when it was bought or what condition it is in, even without a receipt.

Kohl’s. Save your receipts, and take advantage of Kohl’s generous return policy that does not have a time limit. There is no deadline for returns or replacements. If you don’t have a receipt, don’t worry. You can still make an exchange or get store credit.

Macy’s. Good news, you can go ahead and lose your Macy’s receipt. You do not need it to make a return because Macy’s has a sticker system that allows the store to look up your purchase and confirm it was part of their inventory. You can get a full refund within 180 days of purchase.
